Our Impact
At JRNY the "dash" next to the new identity serves
as an important reminder of the
lines of connection that we are accountable to
creating among all participants that join us in any of our
experiences.
Everything we do is driven by these questions that impact the tools
and processes we design in our programs:
-
Is our work helping to
truly build collaborative communities?
-
How do collaborative communities form? What are the
conditions
that support their creation?
-
What keeps a community alive and growing?
We were lucky enough that we got to conduct
two outcome assessment studies assessed by
independent entities since we started. This pdf is a study
implemented by
Collective Routes
that assessed the impact of our work, particularly within the
industry and founder retreats. These assessments have been truly
eye-opening on the possible ways forward.

Ayman Bazarra was inspired to create Sprints after working on the idea together with several people who attended the first employment retreat. Since then, Sprints has collaborated with over 8 entities and has developed highly technical and widely acclaimed training programs. In just one year, they were able to deliver over 150,000 hours of training to more than 3,000 learners, receiving an outstanding rating of 4.4+. Sprints is the first end-to-end solution bridging the tech talent gap in MENA. They assess talent, provide customized learning journeys, guarantee top-paying jobs, and support alumni career growth. Updated numbers highlight job creation and showcase capacity building in their success stories.

JRNY/ElRehla creates a strong and resourceful
community and network. It became an important
business trip in iCareer’s annual plan. My company
secured funds for one of its biggest projects
through the connections I made in JRNY/ElRehla .
During the retreats you don’t only get to know the
people in the retreat, you become part of a bigger
network that can lead you to many new opportunities.

Yahia Arafa was inspired after the Decent Work retreat to create a Facebook group called "The Y Career Hub," which supports 43K members. The group is praised for its inclusivity and serves as a platform for individuals to ask career-related questions. It is the only group in Egypt that fosters a rich dialogue between employees and employers, and it was recently selected as one of Facebook's awardees in its accelerator program. The Y Career Chat is a leading community in Egypt for mature and genuine career discussions.

Policy Paper & Publications
JRNY is positioned more on the systems level - so some of our
outcomes alongside ecosystem building can be the usage of the
retreats as a platform that produces: policy papers, white
papers or reports of hot topics and trends, etc while also
being a knowledge sharing, lobby or collaboration hub.
We were lucky enough to be commissioned across the years to
work on the following white papers and policy recommendations:
-
International Organization for Migration (IOM) policy report
on migration
-
Fintech Outcomes and Way Forward Paper a recommendation
paper
-
Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung policy recommendation paper for the
gig economy and the creatives economy
-
International Labor Organization caregivers and women in the
workforce stakeholder mapping and recommendations paper
